The social security appeals process
The Social Security disability appeal consists of four stages. They are:
- Reconsideration stage - In this stage, you can make an appeal online requesting the SSA to review your application a second time. Only 15% of all applications submitted get approved at this stage.

- Federal district court - This becomes your last and final option. Should your case face rejection in the appeals council as well, your last option is to file a lawsuit in a Federal District Court. It is extremely hard to win a claim in a federal court.
